JANUARY 2022 NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS

JANUARY 2022 NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS

For those of us on the West Coast, this is our second New Moon of the month—also called a Black Moon—but for everyone, this is the first New Moon of a new lunar cycle and this one is bringing ch-ch-changes! Ruled by Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, Aquarius is planting its freak flag on Mother Moon and is asking you to wave yours. The rebel of the Zodiac, Aquarius sparks new ideas, visions and ways of approaching things, so it’s time to shake things up and think outside the box. This might be a little tough for fixed signs—Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius—who don’t love change, but do you really expect to become an even badder bitch doing the same things all the time? INSANITY (literally)! And just because you mutable signs (ya'll hear me, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces?) can roll with the punches, doesn’t mean this is a get out jail free card. This is a time for every sign to push out of their comfort zones to become their most badass selves!

Now enough about you; it wouldn’t be very Aquarian to not discuss the collective at large. After all, as the ruler of the twelfth house of networking, groups and wishes, Aquarius is super socially- and community-oriented. So set your intentions to include collaborations, connecting with friends, and humanitarian efforts. Aquarian energy is the kind that starts revolutions and leads movements, but they ain’t in it for the clout, they really want to make the world a better place for all of us to live in. But no boss babe gets to the top by themselves (or if you do, bet it’s lonely up there all alone). Think “help me, help you.” And with Mercury Retrograde coming to an end February 3rd, the New Moon in Aquarius’ surrounding energy will supercharge your manifestations!

Suggested Crystals:

Rainbow Fluorite - Collective Consciousness

Rutilated Quartz - Forward-thinking

Lepidolite - Change

Suggested Essential Oils:

Jasmine - Innovation

Cedarwood - Humanitarian

Lavender - Soothing Transition

Suggested Ritual:

Cleanse your crystals (note: do not use water for Fluorite or Lepidolite) and place them next to your bath. Put a few drops of one or more of the suggested essential oils along with 1/2 cup epsom salt into a hot bath. As you soak, consider friendships, collegial relationships, group projects, and humanitarian efforts you want to collaborate with or take action on and how these will not only help you become the best version of yourself but also do the best for the world around you. If you’re able, consider answering the journal prompts while soaking. Otherwise, do so after getting out, and place your crystals near a window for the New Moon in Aquarius to supercharge them!

Suggested Journal Prompts:

  1. What do you need to feel comfortable in your most authentic truth?
  2. Is there a side of you that you think is weird or awkward? How can you embrace this side of you more?
  3. Think back to your New Year's resolutions—what haven't you put into motion yet? What do you want to achieve? (It’s time to make it happen)
  4. What intentions can you set that are aligned with a more authentic version of yourself?
  5. Is there a new energy you wish to invite into your life?
  6. Create a list of all of the ideas you wish to bring to reality in the next few months.
  7. What do you think would make the world a brighter, better place?
